A Welcome Visitor to My Garden this week

.

.

Alright, so it’s not really my 99th “Friday Favourites”… I was just trying to sound productive.

Life is hectic at the moment, but I still wanted to share a few things this Memorial Day Weekend.

The weather is gorgeous in Santa Barbara. Fingers & toes crossed it lasts all weekend long both here, and where ever you may be.

 My sister sent me this today; it really made me laugh;

ATD- at the doctor.

BFF-best friend fell.

BTW-bring the wheelchair.

BYOT-bring your own teeth.

FWIW-forgot where I was…

GGPBL-gotta go, pacemaker battery low.

IMHO-is my hearing aid on??

LMDO-laughing my dentures out.

OMMR-on my massage recliner.

ROFLACGU-rolling on floor laughing and can’t get up.

.

Our Mom’s response made us laugh even more;  “But I’ll never remember all of those!!!!!!”

Love ya Mum!! 🙂

Unfortunately, no Chelsea Flower Show for me this year, but I did get an Opening Day peek from my friend who attended,

I know I’m really late in getting this recommendation up, but better late than…

(Did I mention I’m a huge proponent of “The Slow Movement”?!)

If, by any chance, you haven’t caught this ENCHANTING documentary yet, please, puhleeze go see it post haste.

Trust me on this one, you’ll not be sorry.  Bill Cunningham is an absolute JOY and the film is a delight- I had a smile on my face all day.

Have a wonderful, Safe, Memorial Day Weekend!!

  1. I can so hear Slim Grandma saying that about the text codes (I can hear my Mom AND Dad saying that too). I am going to check out that movie. And lastly, while I am allergic to cats and that video made me sneeze, it did remind me that for the first year of my son’s life he would only sleep glued to me all night. LOVED cuddling up with him. Very sweet!

  2. oh Zandra how I love her. In the 70’s she came to a party my parents had at home (she used to come to Melbourne for the Melbourne Cup) and as a little 10 year old peering through the banisters of the staircase that pink hair of hers made a big impression on me. xo

ps I also love your window box is it kind of sunken into the bench? Or is that an optical illusion?

    • Hi Jane
No, it is not an ‘illusion’! When I installed the counter, I cut out a section of marble and replaced it with a copper lined planting trough flush with the counter. It drains to the outside flowerbed below the window.

  3. Ha ha post “99”. 🙂
    Fun post!

Love the mother cat and baby cat video. Is there anything in this world more wonderful than motherhood? My one little kitten was born 23 years ago and I still haven’t come back down to earth.

    Thai flower display – unbelievable!

  4. I loved this post so much…fun and interesting things to make us smile and take pleasure in being alive…plus another beautiful desktop photo to save. Thank You Slim.

  5. A new Living Room theater just opened here recently. . . and Bill Cunningham’s movie NY is on the roster! NOW!!
    TODAY !! YEAH!

      • best way to tell you is to go to Living Room Theater web site. . . here it is located on a college campus and plays Indie films – very similar to the theater in Santa Barbara

Since I haven’t been yet (tonight) I can’t tell you the seating, food etc. but web site indicates you can have it all!!!!

  6. cute post!

    Gorgeous butterfly photo.

I love a good documentary, I’ll try and see that movie if it’s playing anywhere in Vancouver.

  7. Cute post as usual Slim! Always nice to wake up on Saturday with a cup of coffee and a smile on my face from your posts 🙂

    LOVE the butterfly photo!

  8. A friend recommended Bill Cunningham’s documentary, and I believe I heard it played here during the film festival, I can’t wait to see it! Thank you, my Mother said that she can pronounce alzheimer’s, so she doesn’t have it, but I’ll have to quiz her on her age appropriate responses (JK and LOL….Ha)! That was so funny! Brian Williams (I’m addicted, he looks like my brother) showed a brief picture of a cat in a zoo shaking her cub awake from a nightmare yesterday, cats must have taken a nice pill recently. I put herb troughs in a concrete counter, a while ago, but forgot to add drainage, not one of my wisest decisions! I’m running to get my mortar out for your lemonade, mmmm. The elephants are exquisite, thank you, I love your blog, can you tell?!

  9. Love the pink elephants. I keep seeing them lately. Marc Jacobs has a life-size pink one in the store window here. I discovered a delicious beer that has cute little pink elephants on the label. And now this beautiful Thailand display. Would love to see the Chelsea Show. (Love all the favorites.)

  10. Hi Slim. That shot of the flutterby is beautiful I love them..The kitty is adorable. would love to see
    Bill Cunninghams film.
Lovely post thanks. Happy weekend. ox

  11. Thx for the heads up on the documentary. My husband and I caught the last day of it playing at the Modern in Fort Worth Texas. It was everything you said it would be and more. I was teary eyed near the end. I wanted to put Bill in my pocket and take him home. What a lovely gentle man! Thank you so much for your recommendation. I love your blog, your personality shines through. How lucky your family are to have you in their life! Keep up the great work. Your pictures are amazing! All the best.
