Well, we’ve almost come to the end of my little Slim Paley Advent Calendar…
I hope you’ve had as much fun as I’ve had.
This was going to be a post about the predominance of the ‘au natural’ theme this year, but to be honest
I’m un-naturally exhausted!
I went to see “Mission Impossible 4” with my boys tonight (Yay! they’re both home with us now) and all that action just really took it out of me!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANK YOU. NOW GO AND ENJOY THOSE BOYS
……..all three
Thanks for the au naturel post, Slim…just like my hair color…
I have loved your advent calendar!! Perfect inspiration to get me in the Christmas spirit–this year I was definitely lagging. But I am right on schedule (thanks to Slim) just a batch of cookies left to bake (maybe some brownies, too) and the table to set and a few presents to wrap before the entire crew arrives tomorrow night at around 6 (which means that they might make it by 7). I’m wishing all of you a wonderful Christmas and New Year, filled with love and margaritas/martinis/scotch, etc. and joy. Mary
Dear Slim, what an inspiration your advent calendar has been. You have really kicked my gift wrapping creativity (for which I have a “reputation”) into high gear and I am having the most wonderful time with my parcels. I wish you joy at Christmas and through the year to come, mwp
What a FANTASTIC series! You could take over for Anna Wintour (love her)
Loved it all–from the sparkle and glitz to the au naturel chic. Mille merci! And Happy Holidays to all!
wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas. Just finishing off the roast leg and glazing the gammon. 3 Trifles ready, just need to get their whipped cream & glace ginger hats.
Tonight we have a roast dinner, for my hubs, and 2 sons and an old lady friend, then tomorrow my my mom & sister and her 2 kids, join us for a cold lunch, after that we all set off to see the extended family, Yes, Christmas is all about having your family close to you, especially when your grown up children still spend time with you.
Cheers!!!

Au natural works for me! So easy on the eyes! Merry Christmas Slim to you and yours! ~Delores
You were very brave to take this project on, Slim and not ONCE did you “phone it in!” Each and every post was as beautiful as the last – filled with unusual images, imaginative inspirations and your dazzling wit! I think you should go have a Peppermint Cane Martini and toast yourself!
Merry, Merry Christmas! xoxo
Understated and natural has been my theme this year… I have loved it but it has also made me want to go totally over the top next year!
Merry Christmas Eve!
Keri
Wow! Such a beautiful month of posts, Slim. Thank you so much for your generousity!
This is the way I decorate my home (sort of)! Gotta say I love this post…. so many ways to decorate for Christmas and they’re all beautiful! Some years I say I’m going to switch it up and go all colourful or chic or white, but I never do. I guess it’s what makes us happy and comfortable in our homes that is best. For me, following the trends is just too much trouble!
May your heart and home be filled with much love and comfort this Christmas!!
The very best to you, Slim!
Kim
Thank you for a lovely month Slim! I especially love the Emerson quote at the end of this post. Merry Christmas!
Perfect ideas for celebrating an after christmas, Christmas which is what i’m doing with my kids in January. All natural with some pine would be perfect. Thanks Slim for all of the beautiful posts. You have made Christmas prep fun and inspiring. I so enjoy hearing from all of your readers on what and how they’re doing their Christmas too. Have a wonderful holiday with your family!
Jimmeny Christmas! The jewel-toned sparkly post was LOVED by my daughter..where are those “sparkly” jewel toned heels from? I did make a quick run for the OPI jewel toned “sparkly” nail polish as a stocking stuffer, sorry darling daughter no “sparkly shoes” and the Oscar dresses, well, they were COMPLETLEY sold out 🙁 The ice post simply smashing, the modern glass logs, real flames,.. fire and ice…….wonderfully inspiring….for so many years I would string lights (100 lights per foot of tree) on 19 exterior pine trees, (I stopped when they reached 15 feet)… inside I had the themed “gold” tree for the living room (collecting all things gold for 20 years)..the themed “green and red tree” for the family room, with the lovely satin wired wide ribbon of both colors adorned with hundreds of silver mercury balls of all sizes….so beautiful….the “au natural” tree for the playroom including many “found” birds nests, hand strung acorn garlands (from the 100 of gallons of acorns from the New England wetlands) burlap wired ribbons, burlap tree skirts, fresh sheared moss (from the wetlands..you get the idea), the themed “pink” tree for the little princess who still to this day adores all things pink (and adds to her tree 12 new pink ornaments every year), and the themed “blue” tree for the second little princess (we try to find 12 blue ornaments every year, but that is challenging), I would hand shear my many boxwoods and make a fresh boxwood wreath for each window (approx 28 give or take) until my hands were so torn up from all that wire..oh the lovley white vignette for the gilded console with arrangements of paper whites, casa blanca lilies, fresh cedar and moss, the big ball of red roses placed at the entry in a wall mounted scrolled acanthus carved sconce, the fresh clove studded orange pomanders, the freshly made laurel and bay wreath with the dried citrus rings….I am exhausted just thinking about all that work and 200% effort….this year it is much simpler, although the girls still have their “special” trees…I have limited my decorating to simple branches, hemp/jute twine, sparkly silver crosses and the tiniest of tiny led lights…very breathable and humble, as I am not worthy, but extremely grateful for the gift that He gave me……..thank you so very, very much for extending your time and creativity…………..on another note, All I want for Christmas is our Drone back……
Fun month of postings … full of humorous holiday spirit.
Merry Merry to you guys. Kiss the boys from us!! xoL

I must admit I will miss this! I never take time to read things like this, but this really got me through this Christmas. I started each day wondering what was going to be shown and even woke up in the middle of the night wondering if it was time yet to check my email. Such fun and inspiration! Thank you and I hope your Christmas was a wonderful one!
