I tip-toed away and had a quiet little birthday this week. Not a momentous one, nothing ending in a “0″ or marking another decade. Just one of those that glide by with the swiftness of a bird’s wing, a gentle whoosh, silent … Continue reading
Did you have a great 4th of July holiday?!
Whut? It’s the 10th already?
And me, still not bikini ready
Oh, let’s get real.
I’m not even underwired, black one piece with a pleated skort ready.
As Pinterest loves to remind me on a daily basis.
and yet, casting my memory back to Christmas when my older son’s adorable girlfriend “C” bought me the Nike Fuel Band I was so chuffed.
I thought Wow-this is going to be GUHREAT!!
No more pocket for my old pedometer (and it going through the wash every other month) my new Nike band would also tell me the time, number of steps I was taking, and amount of “fuel” and calories consumed/expended each day
(but we’re not going to talk about that part. You lost me at calori…ZZZZZZzzzzzz)
Pretty cool, right? ( also comes in black)
What I didn’t realise was that Nike was not only going to set outrageously, preposterously, Herculean, nay Sisyphean ”GOALS” for me,
it was also going to spy on me. And be cruel about it.
I mean could that O% get any bigger?? WTF?
I wonder if they’re sharing Slim’s FAILURE information with the government?
It’s not as if I haven’t been active…
Rock climbing(ish) in Utah in May
And as my Instagram account will attest, I’ve climbed to the top of the peaks of Montecito more than a few times.
Which means twice in truth speak.
I’ve done plenty of yoga…
yet I’m O for how many days and counting.
Unlike my dear friend who posted this on her Instagram page.
Apparently it takes climbing Machu Picchu to achieve the ”Full Rainbow”
and a well deserved glass of wine.
Well, I’ll show you Nike Dudes
I’m getting to the red zone if it kills me
this next week.
Speaking of failures…
I still haven’t painted that damn vintage chandelier hot pink yet and then this popped up on Pinterest.
Nike and bloody Pinterest. They’re gunning for me.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest. Just check out that cute painted floor!
I’d love it even more if I’d been a ground floor investor, but as I’ve never invested in anything, I can’t be bitter about that.
It’s just that you can never quite predict how you’re going to feel after a tip-toe (marathon) thru “Pinterest” am I right?
I’m INSPIRED!! I’m so unproductive.
I’m redoing the laundry room! I hate my body. I should knit! Would it kill me to juice more?
Lauren Santa Domingo’s so cool. My mom never braided my hair. I can’t live without that hot pink garden hose.
Look, I saw it, now you have to deal with it…
I should ombre’ my hair
I need a portable chain saw
I should wear heels more. How do they get the jello to separate like that?
and the biggest one of all (and my current screen saver)
How did we EVER live without salt in our caramel??
Unsalted caramel is like the MySpace of confections
and on that note,
JUST DO IT

Happy Monday and welcome to Slim Paley Daily #6
a wee post dedicated to our furry friends.
because first there was this little guy that a friend forwarded to me recently.
“Ray Charles” is a blind rescue puppy whose cuteness definitely needed to be shared.
Then I came upon this feline femme fatale on Instagram
No one gets between her and hair washing night.
Then my subscription to “C” arrived, one of my very favourite magazines,
featuring LA based artist Sharon Montrose
who photographs all species of animal “pouched, slithering, winged and hoofed” in studio
and reproduces them in small to wall-covering size here at; The Animal Print Shop
As “C” says, what a fantastic idea for kid’s rooms (or the kid within us all )
Take a couple of minutes to upload and watch the video link below.
ABC’s “Splash” eat your heart out.
*Take the viewing format out of HD for it to load faster-in the bottom right hand corner of video
baby bear hugs to you all, furry and not so much… xx
“Cecil Brunner” climber outside my office window this week.
Thank you so much for all your kind words and wishes on our 25th anniversary yesterday, both here and on the FB page.
I was truly touched.
Happy Thursday night!
Now, back to the daily share, before it’s Friday…
If you’re anything like me (and you know you are because you’re here) you have about 50 million photos saved on your computer but aren’t printing any of them. Am I right? Sure, digital photography is utterly awesome and we’re taking TONS more pics than we used to, but other than on a computer screen, they’re not tangible…
One of my Spring resolutions is to change that.
You saw my Moo cards-I’m on a roll…
Here are two more fun ideas to help get your memories off the screen and into the hands of someone you love ( that could just be yourself!)
I’m totally in love with the look of these photo books you can create at Artifact Uprising
I’ve been following them for a little while on Instagram and I’m so inspired by their style and company ethos.
They also have a blog that might ignite some grand ideas for your photos-they attract a charming crowd.
Have you ever thought of making tiles with your photographs?
These large slab tiles (12 x 12) at Image Snap are only $35
Or an 8 x 8 square for $27. Dude. Seriously.
Great gift idea.
You can even make teeny 2 x 2 tiles for $4 each.
I could do a bathroom wall of my roses!
Have I made anything with Artifact Uprising or Image Snap yet? No.
Am I sharing them with you to push myself? Kinda.
Great. Now I have so many ideas and images swirling in my head, I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight.
Thanks a lot. Until Friday…
Welcome to the launch of “Slim Paley Daily” !
The plan is to share one fun thing a day for a week just to shake things up a bit.
Think of it as a “Friday Favourites” facelift (remember those?? Favourites, not facelifts)
As it happens, my first share is something I mentioned waaay back on Friday Favourites but never ended up doing myself…
until just recently
and boy, do I love my Moo Cards !
Half the size of regular business cards, they’re really inexpensive, easy to create and the Moo service is great.
and they’re funny, those Moo folks. Always a plus in my books.
Simply pick whatever images you wish to print, drag them to the templates on the create page and off you go.
If I can do it, YOU can do it.
They have a multitude of combinations for fonts and background colours (though they could use more font choices) and the best part? They print on both sides! Choose a matte or glossy finish and load up to 100 images.
YES- 100 IMAGES People!
I picked 100 of my own photos, most of them from previous Slim posts.
and went with a matte finish because I didn’t think my card case needed any competition. Ahem.
I think I ordered 400 cards because that seemed to come out to a ridiculously good price.
FYI- you can also create regular sized business cards, stickers, and other fun stuff.
Check it out.
PPS. This mention is only with affection, not affiliation with Moo-nies.
See you tomorrow with Tuesday’s… thing.
