One of House Beautiful Magazine’s most popular contributing editors, Lisa Cregan has a brand new book out about decorating with the colour BLUE.
Despite it’s diminutive stature (just 5″ x 7″) the book is brimming with ideas in which to incorporate this most popular of colours into any room in your home, and proves that good things do indeed come in small packages.

This tranquil, exceptionally private destination on a small island in Fiji, was developed, ironically, by the creator of “Red Bull”
Go figure.
This is perfect for me…it’s like “Survivor” without the yucky survivor part.
This could finally be my chance to be the last remaining person on the island! (I used to be a Federal Agent you know. Only Survivor nerds are going to get that 🙂 )

“Storm in a Tea Cup” by John Lumbus
Turn the handle and the golden boat rides the mechanical waves, above, the stormy clouds reveal a shining bolt of lightening.
What more does one need really?!

beautiful blues!
great Slim- blue has always been my favorite
all blues
Yet another fabulous post, Slim.
Whoever said Blue had to be sad? No way!
I’d love to take the Bottega to the beach followed by a bubble bath!
A perfect tonic for this rainy day in Vancouver.
🙂
I had forgotten how much I love blue–and I was thinking of redoing my bedroom in chinese red==what was I thinking? Thanks, Mary
Having a blue day fo sho….although you just turned my frown upside down with this post.
Thankyou. You had me at the first photo…memories of my world. xoxo
Slim,
I love the color blue and it’s definitely something I need more of in my life! You’ve given me some great ideas…can a sixty-something wear blue nail polish? 🙂
Karen
Don’t forget “Advanced Style”! Absolutely!
Ahhh,,, so soothing!
I loved that storm in a teacup when I saw it, too–and this post made me think of the Polish pottery that I’m slowly starting to collect: http://www.polishpottery.com/
I have ALWAYS been a fan of blue. Blue jeans, blue drinks, blue t’s, blue paint, blue water, blue skies, singing the blues, blue eyes crying in the rain …love it all. You’d be blue too xoL
I want to go to that resort. Now. With my friend, Slim and her Bottega Veneta bag.
That was delicious.
LOVE this post! Oh Fiji……Memories……I honeymooned there with my husband. The resort we stayed at had a small private island a short boat ride away and we were able to spend the day there, just the two of us – no Federal Agents, no red Speedos.
My husband actually just painted our bedroom walls Peacock Blue! We love it and are looking for ways to add more blue accents throughout our home. Thanks for the tip on the Lisa Cregan book, on my way to Amazon now!
I adore blue clothing, as my closet will testify, but don’t like it in interior decor. At all. I think it always looks like colonial blue from the 80’s. Anyway, you’ve got impeccable taste SP! I look forward to every post…
I’m probably the only one of your fans whose not “a fan” of blue. Turquoise yes (I paint in turquoise ALL the time) but just can’t grasp the “porcelain” blue. Maybe it’s because of overused it in the 80’s?
Still a great post Slimmy!
Blue is my favorite color… it makes me feel at peace, brings me some happiness.
Gorgeous pictures and yes, I need to take a look at that book. Very interesting.
Thanks, SP!

Love Blue..enough said. xx peggybraswelldesign.com
Although Blue is not my fav., I tend to lean to the warmer, comforting colors, I really loved every photo on this post Slim. The blue book will be on my new list. The blue handbag also (though maybe only in my dreams) !! The fashion shots dreamy.
A dreamy post thanks ox
Very cute Blue Book! thanks for the tip.
Also love those oil tanker photographs!
mmmmmmmmmmm. every pic in this post is like a perfect pair of broken in blue jeans. try saying that 10x fast.
xo
Gorgeously gorgeous! Blue is my favorite color (goes with my eyes) and every picture was wonderful. I did wonder what the model in the Versace was doing, though :-).
When do we buy our tickets??
I love our little vacations together, I believe the last one was in Cabo? It’s better than paxil!
Ok, this inspired me to revisit the purple post…. how do I find it again???
This was actually up in “The Popular Kids” Dawn-

Is this the post you’re referring to?
Hands down, Slim, your best post (pictures) ever!
So soothing which is what I need after listening to world news.
Thanks for the mini-vacation and seeing that world is still
full of beauty.
I’m an aqua/turquoise kinda girl! Obsessed really. I go to resorts all over the world so I can just gaze into the glorious blue waters.
Loved your post!
You have it all here…the perfect shades of blue! I don’t think any of these shades ever go out of fashion. I love collecting them…thanks for reminding me 🙂
Jeanne xx
Oh, how I look forward to your site everyday! I’m tempted to even try blue nail polish! I smile, smile, and delight in your pictures and themes. Happiness abounds………..Thank you!
