It was my birthday

I tip-toed away and had a quiet little birthday this week.

Not a momentous one, nothing ending in a “0” or marking another decade.

Just one of those that glide by with the swiftness of a bird’s wing, a gentle whoosh,silent and steady.

I celebrated with old friends & my sweet husband.  I’m not one to make a big deal of birthdays anyway, though I do find joy in sharing mine with many lovely, creative Virgo friends born so close together-an added blessing to be sure.

Of course birthdays are a good time to reflect, access,

consider what the past year has gifted us and what the future holds.

So there was some of that.

I also realised that it’s been 4 years since I began penning this blog.

Dude.

I might be old, but I can’t give up my “Dude”

I still haven’t written a book, or accomplished a thousand other things on “The LIST”

But that’s OK. There’s still time.

and I kept up the blog! 🙂

I was also lucky enough to travel to some wonderful destinations this year, many of which I shared with you here.

Blogging has turned out to be, amongst other things, the most wonderful form of memory bank.

And remember my promise of a “Talitha Getty” pose when I finally reached Marrakech?

In retrospect, I think we should have started that last night ‘shoot’ a little earlier in the evening.

Say, before the cocktail hour commenced.

  9. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLIM!!!! When I saw the picture of Talitha Getty I couldn’t believe her amazing hair(yeah, yeah the rest of her too),….then scrolled to the following picture, YOUR hair,… to die for, actually the whole package, hair, face clothes!! I don’t want to hear any more about “bad hair day” from you! 🙂 (or is it that Marrakesh has hair wizards??).
    P.S WHO is the designer for your outfit??

    • Thanks K.R.! No hair wizards in Marrakech but it wasn’t humid there at all-it was actually quite cool.
      My silk pajama trousers are ETRO with just a purple cotton sweater and a lovely old burgundy and rose scarf bought in India many years ago.

    I always forget your birthday and i feel so ashamed. Perhaps i will be organised enough to write it in next years diary beforehand. you are a true amie with who i share lots of laughter, even when reading your blog without you. the Talitha Getty pose is hysterical, looks like you have broken a leg!! but really we all know you are just as beautiful as TG and could have done that photo if you were in a serious not humorous moment.   55. Slim, Just celebrated mine with fellow Virgos as well. Mine is the 6th. Seems to be an awful lot of blogging Virgos…Anyway, I agree that one of, if not the best part of blogging is the scrapbook being made! That part I never even considered, but is a wonderful byproduct!

    Love your blog. Always. The TG photos were the best! I think they are better like they are with you laughing!

    Just for your information….I saw the announcements this morning that Eataly will be opening here in Chicago
    late Fall timeframe. This is only the
    second location in the States….pretty exclusive…Have you been to the NY store?
    I’m very excited about this opening just before the busy Holiday season. Can’t wait to check it out.
