Here’s my Manly Post, as promised.

I had waaay too much fun compiling this.  Might have to double dip more often!

To keep you company,  I am sharing a song from my new obsession; Bryan Ferry’s new CD Olympia but you must promise not to click on any other links til you reach the end of the post or it will cancel out the song, which would be a blasphemy.

Every man needs a good pair of chaps (my sons are cringing right now, but I can’t say why 🙂 )

The Hermes scarf tied above is always an added sartorial bonus.

“Le Cercle” a private club in Paris, features a back bar made of 3,200 cricket balls.  Which is precisely the amount of times I would need to watch a cricket match in order to understand what’s going on.

.I love this look from Dunhill Fall/Winter 2010, except don’t show up at the door with your trousers tucked into your boots unless you’re on a motorcycle…in which case, don’t even show up …

However,

If anyone can track down these super gorgeous notebooks and travel wallets from Dunhill for me, I’ll totally pay you back + a little extra sumpin’ sumpin’ for shipping & delivery 🙂

Give me a hunting trophy that doesn’t hurt animals and I can WEAR?!

Who could be happier?

Not that I would really wear this. Why and how I had it in my files?

Haven’t a clue…

venturing a guess I was cyber-shopping in the middle of the night for yet another “Out of Africa” Dream Safari…

Odin’s scents are unique and rather intriguing so I’m looking forward to sampling their newest fragrance for men;

Petrana

“Transported to a Jordanian desert landscape covered in blooming black Iris comes a floral scent that reveals its dark complexion from earth to air. The heart of Petrana emerges from a foundation of wild orris root and green violet leaf absolute. Herbaceous coriander, spicy pink pepper and deep purple cassis float above the blooms infusing luminous freshness.”

What could be bad about that?!

I love this camera;

The Leica M9 Neiman Marcus Edition is limited to a worldwide edition of just 50 and is priced at US $17,500.00.

The body and matching Summicron-M 35mm f2.0 ASPH lens are finished in classic chrome, and the body is covered in luxurious brown ostrich leather trim with a matching ostrich leather strap. The high-resolution 2.5-inch LCD screen is protected by sapphire cover glass.

OR…

(and not that I don’t want to show Neiman Marcus (aka “My Office”) The Love, but…)

You can pick up the Panasonic Lumix for $250 ($50 less than what I paid for it a scant 3 months ago)

The Only Game in which I am able to get a ball over the net more than 4 times in a row.  In fact, I coulda been a contendah…

Wait… how did this picture get in here?

As the first major innovation to the sport of table tennis since the 1880’s, the new racket without a handle works like a glove worn on either hand. Improved comfort, ergonomics and sensory feedback gained from playing the ball right on the hand have several advantages: greater ball control; a faster, more intuitive game; more spin on the ball; and superior backhand. With such benefits, the game is more accessible to beginners, persons who wish to improve 3D hand-eye coordination and those with dexterity issues, as well as to experts seeking to push the limits of the sport to a new level.

  1. Oh Slim, you’ve really outdone yourself this time!
Gonna have to go back and ponder the chaps
    and Hermes scarf…duuuuude!

  2. Love it- and Jeff B has always been a personal favorite-
can’t think of a bad performance he’s ever done-
Lebowski is wonderful but love him in American Heart and Fisher King
and so many others- wonderful stuff on this post- thanks

  3. You can even make masculine fashions fascinating. I’m sure the little boy at the end is an Italian child. They go crazy for fashion from the cradle on!

  4. Great post and list! There are quite a few things here that I want/need/want! I think I will buy that black suit and hang it in my closet hoping that it will fit that special/ or not so special someone.
I am thinking Sawyer would look good in that hunting jacket.
All kidding aside, that is the cutest little darling I have seen lately!
    have a great week.
    Teresa

  5. I would pay you sumpin sumpin to do all my men shopping Slim. You outdid yourself! Lovin the ipad cover (a thing my that my son would love especially when it finally has an ipad in it this year) and the Dunhill travel folders (get me some of those too! ) Good shopping!! Got any good ideas for men wrappin (hint, hint). Talk very soon. XO

  6. What does this mean? I loved every image—maybe its the buttoned-down, tailored look of most of the masculine items but I could be comfortable in any of the rooms with a man dressed in any of the clothes.

  7. Next time maybe a cowboy can find his way onto your man blog… chaps and spurs
how about nothin but cowboys… tight wranglers, two day beard, sleeves rolled up, kinda dirty…
of course, wearing a well worn hat. Just thinking… okay, I’m fantasizing.

I like the leather i-pad cover, very cool.

    • I believe this is “Jeannie” who is married to a Fireman?! You are not allowed to fulfill two fantasies.
      Sorry dude.

  8. Slim, this post was fun! I have been meaning to tell you I bought the Panasonic Lumix camera like yours a few months ago. Your photos are such an inspiration! I love the camera and am still learning the features, but the photos are so crisp and gorgeous. I am so impressed. Thanks for letting us know about your new camera!
The British bulldog photo would also have fit right in on another recent post of yours. I can’t wait to check out that Etsy shop. That little fashionable boy is precious. And the safari camp picture of you is so cute. Excellent post, through and through.

  9. Slim, I adore your sense of humore and loved each and every image!!
    Quite Manly indeed!

  11. Oops – wrong link – fixed this time. Great fun list! I have one overlap with you (mine is next week) – hope you don’t mind. I love it all but having just finished umpteen loads of laundry after Thanksgiving vacation with everyone home, I think I’m going to have to single out the tag at the end – I know that’s how my kids feel!!

  12. Slim…….You are always ahead of the game. This post was really fabulous. The shoes at the end….
too fun. And may I add Jeff B. deserves his own post. What a great smile.

  13. Okay then! I actually wrote–with a pen–on a post-it–all the stuff that I think would be just right for this gal–ME! (well, except for the cologne). I also would love that toaster except for, well, the sports logos.
This is one of my favorite posts.(I say this every Slimmy. Not my fault-Slim keeps reinventing herself without losing herself).
Young New Yorker son has Slim’s refinement and taste, no less.

love this love this I want I want gimme gimme

  14. forgot to say- laughed out loud again- thank you so much for that-
and that the pic of Brando might be a good one for the end of every post-
    STELLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAA
    nobody said it better

  15. Your “Man Blog” beat mine out!!!! you are just so stinkin hilarious! I just bought the toaster for my son. We think alike!!! For your readers, mine was a University of Alabama one, so they also come in college toasters! I can’t wait to give it to him!!!

  16. Steve approves. But he doesn’t know about the chaps. And with pants that high-waisted, you should lose the shirt. The Hermes is okay, though. Also love the Dunhill suit matched with combat boots.

  17. This is an adorable post! I love the picture of Marlon Brando. I was shocked to realize the resemblance to my 28-year-old son… (really!) The littlest Sartorialist, at the end, is precious.

  18. Great post! I adore Jeff Bridges…can’t wait to see him in “True Grit”, and LOVED “Crazy Heart”.
Thanks for the wonderful, original ideas for our men! Hoss can be so hard to shop for, it puts me in a brain freeze every year….xo

  19. WOW, is it weird that this post is one of my favourites?

I absolutely love everything on here, really really cool stuff!
I even love Jeff Bridges, he and Kris Kristofferson have the sweetest man faces!

    Great post Slim, thank you

  20. Hola, muchacha!

After seeing that “EL MATADOR” you made me speak spanish! Ai, Ai,Ai!!! Muy caliente!!!! LOL

Actually, it’s funny because I saw this picture today at “The Sartorialist” and I even left a comment saying that “IF I WAS A LESBIAN, THAT PICTURED WOULD’VE MADE ME CHANGE MY MIND”!!! lol
Talking about sexy man, your post is filled with them today.. I guess we’re in the same page today! Ha!

Now… I wish I could do some yoga to make me relax.. you’re post is, let’s say… exciting!!! hahaha

Oh, I was almost forgetting… I’ve posted today about a very famous brazilian interior designer. I think you’ll like it.. go take a look at my blog and his site too. He’s really gifted.

    Have a great day, SP!

  21. Like many others who subscribe to your site, I’m a designer and there’s a term I use with my clients to describe the feeling you get when you know something’s right. It’s KA-CHUNK. Slim – you’re totally ka-chunk.

  22. Your going to have to start a web store. This is great. Thanks as always for the vision. I want more manly things in my house :0, besides my Fab husband.

  23. Hey Slim…
Please don’t diss on motorcycles! There are different types and totally different
personalities who ride them. My husband and I ride “two up” on a Beemer (BMW 1150 RT)
with RT = Road Tour. BMWs are beautiful bikes and we always get approving looks from
people admiring our AirFlow(tm) racing pants/jacket/boots with our highly styled German
    silver Schueberth motorcycle helmets.
You should do a post on motorcycle inspired fashion! Just saying (wink wink)

    • Sorry Susan
You are right of course, but honestly, I know so little about motorcycles I’d probably put the cool German helmet on backwards 🙂

  24. as well, I love the title of this post….very cute!

and that new Bryan Ferry song is hauntingly cool and perfect for this manly post!

  25. Oh yes, I saw the matador on the Sartorialist’s site the other day and could not BELIEVE how gorgeous he was!

Those shoes in the last photo look excruciating, but they’re incredible too.

  26. These gifts are all pretty cool, but you know what they look like? They look like gifts that a woman would think are manly. Not that there’s anything wrong with that; it’s just that to get truly manly gifts, you need a mans’ advice.

  27. Pingback: Dating advice message board

  28. I told you a men’s post would be a good idea! Good work mom. Also, I just purchased one of those toasters. Go Lakers!

  29. Hello Slim. Ta, I’m off to share this with my best friend the gay artist. He is gonna drool!
So to the point of this comment, as I am always behind on your posts, I wanted to recommend a book for you, after your fab post on maps.
Have you read “The Selected Works of T.S.Spivet, A Novel” by Reif Larsen. If you love maps, I think you would really love this illustrated story.
    Toddles,
    Louise in Townsville

  30. Beautiful Gravatar! What’s in the glass? I am SO getting those chaps for my husband for Christmas. Do you have a post regarding your 1920’s safari? If so, can you point me to it? Thanks.

Would love to hear from you!
