The oranges are dried and strung, ( I didn’t string them all myself!)
The bows are tied …
and although they aren’t hung yet and still sitting on a tupperware bin lid, I couldn’t resist snapping a photo in this incredible golden light.

Orange You Glad It’s Christmas
PS. I did get the Excalibur for Christmas that year (sweet!).
Tonight I’m going to try the recipe with almond milk instead of normal milk.

Cause I’m wild child.
zzzzzzzzzzz…Day 9!
~
Slim, when you mentioned receiving an Excalibur I assumed the type with four wheels.
THAT would be sweet!
The oranges are beautiful and I can just imagine that scent, but….what else do you use the dehydrator for (during normal as in not xmas time?) I’m looking at this $300 machine and am so tempted, but not sure what I would do with it?? See, you make everything seem essential!
I LOVE my “Excalibur” Sherkro but to be honest, it is very big and it is noisier than the small, much less expensive model I used to have (in the photo) The upside is is works much faster, because it has a fan. The downside is it’s kind of like having a Ferrari in your pantry when you probably only need a Volkswagen Beetle!
Re other uses; You can dry everything…herbs…rose petals…beans…beef jerky, really the list is endless and changes with the seasons.
I love milk –it is about the only thing I drink as I have never had a cup of coffee or tea and think soda is way too bad for your body. I will try this without the golden syrup–maybe a little butterscotch? Oh I do drink wine, champagne, and all kinds of fruit juice!!!
Orange you amazing Slim!
So pretty–I’ll take the pendant and the ring and the evening bag!! thanx, Mary
Killing me. My heart rate just sky rocketed for that Maxim Vozsenesky citrus ring….and it was in the ‘doable’ range at that price! Drat.
I am just loving these Christmasy posts and predict that the shelter mag business will go completely out of business if you keep this up.
Holy St. Citrus is right!
You, Slim, are the hardest working woman in Blogland. Another great post–every day!
I love orange! For any occasion!
and we are so glad you’re wild!
What an eye…! You really deserve a Blogger Editor-in-Chief Oscar!! Gorgeous!
Those dried orange slices are gorgeous! As was this and many other of your posts. Such a feast to the eyes and senses! Thank you, Reggie
All I want for Christmas is ….your…”inspiration file!!!!” Delish photos!!! franki
Happy holidays, Slim. I stepped away from your blog for the past months due to hectic life. Orange slices and theme mark my return! Amazing. Thank you.
Welcome Back Dana!
Your tree has always inspired me. One day, when my kids are older and the bottom half of our tree doesn’t get undecorated/redecorated by tiny hands all day, I’m going to do orange slices on my tree. Oh and that ring and pendent, just gorgeous!
Slim,
Buy a $10.00 mandoline from World Market and it makes thinly sliced fruit and veggies a dream.
Merry Christmas!!!

mmmm… my daughters favorite..warmed almond milk topped with foamy, frothed almond milk, drizzled with local organic orange blossom honey, (at Christmas a sprinkle of fresh orange zest and a dash cinnamon for a long winters nap)…she has nightmares from mommy dearest, the long and hurtful chore of clove studding the oranges for my pomander bowls..wait till she gets home from college this weekend
christmas wasn’t christmas when we were growing up without a tangerine and walnuts in the bottom of our stockings. and a lump of coal, however small, to keep things real. i came across some real coal chunks a few years ago and have used them with my kids. it was either that or santa’s “coal” bubblegum, which, actually, has it’s place in my childhood heart as well…..
Sorry Slim–between refereeing my kids in the snow and trying to buy Christmas gifts online, I mistakenly commented on your “sugarplum” post instead of this one. Hopefully it won’t matter and you’ll get both, but I just wanted to let you know that (P.S.) a negus, from my earlier comment, is a hot drink of port, sugar, lemon (or orange) and spices. I’ve never had one specifically by that name, but it sounds delicious!
Mmmm…
I love the scent of oranges…and I swear the aroma is traveling through my computer.
Hmmm…how did you do that, Slim?
I am definitely going to try this recipe for the orange drink. I am also going to search for less expensive version of the Excalibur. I love the idea of the dehydrated oranges on the tree.
Is it too late in the season to request the diamond pendant, I mean what’s 27,000 pounds!?
Thanks for making the whole blog reading experience so fun this holiday!
xo,
Karen
