The seemingly ageless, legendary model and style icon Kate Moss graces yet ANOTHER Vogue cover;
This time it’s French Vogue’s December “Christmas in Music” issue.
.

We all have our favorite Christmas tunes- those that bring memories flooding back, hopefully mostly good!
For me, David Bowie tugs my heart strings on two levels during the holidays. He and Marc Bolan were my absolute FAVOURITISTEVER, so few were my Christmas Lists that didn’t have David Bowie and Marc Bolan on them…and BTW, I mean David Bowie & Marc Bolan, the actual men, not just the albums.
“Aim high, you never know” has always been my motto!
Sadly, Santa only ever delivered them in one dimension, but you’ve gotta keep that Christmas Dream alive- there’s always next year!
When David Bowie’s rendition of “Little Drummer Boy” with Bing Crosby first surfaced I thought it was just the coolest thing ever. Imagine two wildly successful performers from such different planets coming together to sing this classic Christmas tune? Of course these days, everyone is dueting with everyone, including Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, but back in the day, this felt pretty special:

What self respecting Child of Glitter would not be seduced by these Mui Mui pumps?!

Fancy a cuppa tea in these gorgeous flame colored tea glasses from Mariage Freres? I’d love to randomly scatter several of them across a white table cloth at Christmas; put votives in some and puffs of narcissus in others accompanied by mossy green linen napkins.
Wouldn’t that be gorgeous?!

.

Tis not the first time Our Lady of Moss has paid tribute to Our Thin White Duke on the cover of Vogue.
This was such a great issue I actually kept it from May, 2003

.

And speaking of rock royalty, this is my all time favorite dead posh tea cozy, also from Mariage Freres
It comes in many delectable colours- makes a lovely and unique gift! Sting-eat your heart out- it comes in black & silver too. Maybe Trudy will get you one

Ashes to Ashes, Funk to Funky, I would never have guessed that Slim is a Bowie Junkie! Me Too!
Keep on Drummin the Christmas Beat!
Love the David Bowie, Bing Crosby “Drummer Boy”!
I love that duet, such a surprising duet. The tea cups are luscious, filled with narcissi? Stunning!
Oooops, meant to say the duet was surprising delight! @:()
Who knew that David Bowie and Kate Moss were twins, separated at birth?
Dashing duet! LoVe!
Love David Bowie. I think musicians are more important, certainly more authentic, than 75+% of most politicos. Springsteen, MJ, Coldplay, Sting, the classics like Crosby, Nat King Cole, Elvis, The Three Tenors, Maria Callas, the list goes on and on. They have hugely influenced the world in mostly positive ways.
Years ago in Santa Barbara had a French exchange student who looked like Grace Kelly and the most charming, graceful girl you can imagine, from a terrific family that had their own ‘Chamber Music Orchestra’ including their friends. She would play the flute after dinner and once said to me of all senses if she had to lose one it would be sight because she had to have music. I didn’t respond but thought as a visual person ‘horrors of horrors’. But now understand. Music is elemental to the entire Uni-verse which means ‘one song.’ So many happy memories are entwined with music. Another reason why I love having a blog….almost always add a song.
Another great post!!
PS Went away to listen to ‘Little Drummer Boy’ Sean Quigley. OMG LOVE him. What a joyful, novel way to interpret a classic. Fantastic! Thanks for the link…I use that in a post
I know! Isn’t he just adorable? I hope his video goes viral. I’m seeing the number of “watches” roll over like mad already!
The Little Drummer Boy!!!!! Can we bring him home? Super post! Mary
Continue to amaze and delight……once every day and each as rich and inspiring as your “regular” posts……a high standard to achieve. Bravo!
I’m certainly feeling festive after seeing those sparkly shoes! I remember you were a huge Bowie fan when your little sis and I would hang out, usually Bowie was playing in the background. At the time his androgynous image was so shocking, confusing, and unique. I’m going to give Sean a listen right now. Thanks S.P.
Bowie and me… we go way back too! xv
Loved the video! His smile and those of his freinds with their signs was super infectious!
Merry Christmas Slim!!!!

Wish you could have been with this group of girls I was with last night. You would have had a ball Slimmy. And fit right in! Posted it of course on my blog. It was SO U.
