The hockey game crushed me last night. Cuhhrushed. Who gives up 8 goals in the Stanley Cup Finals??! Jaysus! See-this is why I like fashion more than sports- less heart-ache!! Sure, we had our moment there with the John Galliano scandal, but we’ve dusted off our bodices and put it behind us. The Canucks, on the other hand… Ugh! I can’t even watch tomorrow night-too nerve wracking (Ok, truthfullly I would watch, but I’m not going to be home) In an effort to shirk off the rivalry, the fighting, the debacle that was last night’s game, I’m diving headfirst into a very unabashedly Girly Girl post.
PS. Dear Canada; Do not read anything into the fact that I finally finished my forms to apply for my American Citizenship today- I still LOVE you, just a little miffed with Roberto Luongo.

I think I’d actually be happy to find one product by ”By Terry” that I don’t love
Have you spoiled yourself yet??

Can’t remember where I found this ridiculously girlie photo but I just had to share
Where’s the rose champagne?!

“Petits pots de creme a la rose” from the Laduree cookbook “Sucre”
Who cares if the recipes are in french? It’s the most gorgeous dessert cookbook ever!

I’ve had this photo in my files for years- I love the delicate balance between the femininity of the bed and the tribal rug and fabrics

A big bold feminine toile softened by airy hues and simplicity

A touch of shabby chic still tugs at my heart strings, especially in the summertime

So simple, so pretty!!

I cannot tell a lie- these roses in my conservatory are not from my garden, they were a lovely gift from a friend!

Time to pull out all your summer linens and remember, you don’t have to be camping to enjoy a little mosquito netting.

Nothing like a little pink, especially after all that unadulterated testosterone on ice.
You have an amazing blog and I will now follow you on twitter and enjoy reading and being inspired~Thanks
Thanks Debbi!
Are you sure you are not from the SOUTH? Danette Lawrie
I think she’s a southerner too!
Nope! Hailing from the Great North. LOVE the South though
With the deep voice of son #2 shouting, “Dallas make a shot” in the background—I thoroughly am enjoying your most wonderful of wonders post–love it all! I am so there at that girly table with the pink Chanel bags!
Oh Slim, I want to relax in your guest room with a good book, the lovely ivy pillowcases and the cucumber water – or maybe I might have a glass of wine???
I want to steal your vintage outfit.
I’d like to attend that tea party, my kind of party favor. I love the blue enamel and shabby shelves…always love a good patina. You have quite a collection of the vintage…always nice to see. I am so sorry about your team, sports can be heartbreaking…
I love the summer linens–the “piece de resistance” is the antique crocheted coverlet. Gorgeous. Thanks for reminding me to get mine out for the summer. Mary
Gorgeous photos ! Love all your fresh flowers! The pink Chanel bags “having tea” are from the Coveteur ! Loving your vintage pink sequins too!

hope you like!
I love your post today. For a number of reasons… I would be happy to keep you updated on the score tonight…. but this will be from a Bruins fan…
Once again, your photographs are a feast for the soul.
Thank you… even though you are supporting the wrong team!!
Channel Bags for FAVORS? I wnat on that invitation list
Wow.. I’m loving the SP’s new look! So pretty, so you!
Yes, well… I’m canadian (for 10 years now) and a HUGE CANUCKS & ROBERRRRRTO LUONGO (Can you say that with a Spanish-Italian accent?
) fan. But I understand what you’re saying/feeling. We’ve suffered so much with our team, I hope we can truly celebrate this time.
Now, about your post! Oh, my DEAR! Eye-candy! So many gorgeous images. Lovely!
I hope you’re enjoying a beautiful day!
xo to you!

Perfect counter to the sport…love the roses and soft pink.

Cucumber water! I first had that at a visit to Burke Williams and thought, who thought of putting cucumbers in the water and how did they know it would taste so good?
soooo much gorgeousness here! and hooray! for the paperwork you finished – the USA will gladly call you one of our own!
Cal me crazy but I have never watched a hockey game….but I would like to be invited to that tea party where the party gift is a chanel bag!!!!
forgot…wanted to share a plethora of pink with you

Gorgeous collection, Slim.
You’re going to be an American citizen? How exciting!!
Girly, girly indeed! Adore the vintage outfit Slim and can’t believe you are leaving us Canadians behind. Our loss is the US’s gain for sure. Hope you are enjoying summer. XO
Never leaving Canada behind in my heart Sande- but thank you !
What a pretty post, thanks Slim!
I believe the Canucks intentionally lost that game so the series would have to go to a fifth game in Vancouver, we want to win that cup on home ice!
I’m heading downtown to a sports club/restaurant tonight to watch the game so I can’t keep you posted. It’s going to be CRAZY downtown.
what i meant to say is that the Canucks wanted to intentionally lose the next couple of games so we’d have a nail-biting game 7 in Vancouver…kind of sweet of them really
oh yes, most considerate of them really. Loving their flair for the dramatic.
I love your wit and brilliant personality. That makes each visit extra special. Anyone can post lovely photos, but no one does posts like yours. An admirer in Houston, Marsha
Slim, this post was so soothing. Like a virtual summertime nap on a hammock in the garden with a warm breeze and birds tweeting. Thank you!
What a pretty, pretty post! I have never watched hockey in my life – until now, I can’t believe I’m actually excited to watch the next game.
SP, another sweet feminine winner…
And if you need an army to vouch for how much America needs Slim Paley…WE ARE WITH YOU!
Look at the mess we’re in without you!! LOL
Please keep us informed when Citizenship Day for you rolls around!
Pink Champagne toasts will abound!
Beautiful post!
Ah Slim do you have to go?
Totally not a blindside hit. Gary Bettman hates us. If we win you will hear the cheering down in Santa Barbara.
Thanks for the incredible blog. Always spices up my day.
Don’t worry about Lou. He will come back.
GO CANUCKS GO!!!
ahhhh….so beautiful! but where is the pic of your slipcovered car seats? love the post, as usual!!
You’re right Monique – they would have perfect for this post
I love Lou, and felt so sorry for him on Monday night! That was a bit of a debacle, wasn’t it? I do hope the Canucks win tonight (Wednesday) and again on Friday. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they won the Stanley Cup AND they won it on home ice? Can you imagine the party in Vancouver!
Sign me up as a guest too, just for the day, that’s all I ask. Won’t even pull down the covers.
Canada’s loss is America’s gain.
Loved your post, as usual.
Watching hockey tonight, and am sure Canucks will win, to come back home and win the cup here.
Spirit
Slim – one of the first things I noticed about you is your Canadian-ness – guess it’s true what they say: you can take the girl out of Canada but you can’t take Canada out of the girl. In this way, Slim, both of us – Canada and the U.S. – can proudly call you our own. And when it comes to you Slim, bragging rights definitely apply. Thanks for the pretty, pretty post. Girlie’s just soooo right. My entire family’s watching and shouting and jumping about to tonight’s game as I write this. Hope your team wins. Debra
That’s so sweet Debra, thank you!
What a pretty post! Sure, I love getting dirty and watching sports and lifting heavy things occasionally, but most of all — I love being a girl!
Brilliant blog and beyond Slim.
Just loved every shot, this time can’t pick a fav. ox
I’m happy to offer my tutoring services for your citizenship exam. We could have that muddled raspberry cocktail you posted about a few months ago as a refreshment. I’m sure the libations would help you in remembering the differences between Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and John Hancock.
Ah! I can’t believe how we share the same taste in so many things.
Love this one but makes me homesick for Santa Barbara. Sorry-guest homesick!
Shabby chic and girly all in one-how dreamy can it get. Wanted to comment on the Summer blog as I saw Marisa Berensen here in Paris, she is beautiful but that picture is exceptional, practically unrecogniseable, although she does look good for her age. When I look at your blog, it makes me realise why our friendship has lasted this long.
I am very lucky! You have a beautiful view on the world.
What were the title of the books in the photo? Oh yea, love the photos too!
Dear Slim, my daughter and I were just in Santa Barbara on Tuesday and of course, we fell in love with the area, after a sneak peak at the lovely San Ysidro Ranch and a breakfast at the Biltmore, we were recharged and almost ready to return home to St. Louis! I will return. Thank you for bringing a bit of the loveliness to us each week. Go Canucks! I am bait of a Blues fan, but as usual, we’re not in it.
Oh, first this post is gorgeous and secondly, I loved your blog (and house in HB!!) when I first discovered you, but darling, I would have loved you even more if I knew you were Canadian!!!
I hope the game 5 tonight made you feel better.
Terri in Calgary loves you
Thanks Terri!
