Yes, It’s Really This Colour

Slim Paley photo….…………… BORA BORA

OK, I admit it, I’m caving in to a sinful desire to post turquoise water photos in the midst of these snow storms all over the country. We could all use a shot of this blue right about now… I know I’m not exactly having to put heated socks on my windscreen wipers overnight (they do exist, I just saw the ad) but we have had some bad weather in Santa Barbara too.  Lots and lots of rain.  Saturday I even had to wear a coat!

Perhaps that’s why I was drawn to these photos I took in Bora Bora a few years ago.   I wish I’d had my Leica D-Lux 3 then.  I also really wish that my husband hadn’t fallen ill with the flu and been pretty much incapacitated for most of our stay.  But is it awful to say I still had a good time?!  It is, isn’t it? :(   But just look at this place.  Could you still have had a good time if your significant other was sleeping most of the holiday??  Oh, you people are terrible-  I knew we had a lot in common!

Amazing photography Slim – They bring back great memories of sunnier times – they brighten up my very cold day in Dublin with more snow on the way – keep them coming and have a great trip to New York. Look forward to your New York blog.

My heart is going pitter pat! How beautiful, and what stunning photos you take! Mind you, you will have to pack much warmer for NY! It is so cold here and we are expecting a foot of snow! But you definitely warmed up my day – I anticipate looking back at these photos all day today!
    Best,
    Stephanie

Thanks for the bright spot in what looks to be another ‘white week’. For a minute there I thought I was having an out of body experience. Here in Maryland 24+” on the ground and another 10″-14″ forecast for us beginning this afternoon. I am thinking maybe the kids will go back to school by Easter…..Keep the lovely images flowing our way and have a safe, fabulous winter adventure in NY.

I want my feet in that warm sand. And in that warm water. And in one of those “shacks”……

I can actually feel that boat gently rocking in the water!! Fantastic photo!! As a San Diegan (and a skier) I must say we look at the photos of snow and are so jealous…it looks like a fairyland. but I get what Slim is saying, we are freezing here with a high of about 58 degrees over the weekend we were able to put on a sweater, coat and finally wear the new burberry scarf. all relative I guess.

How could you not have a good time surrounded by all the beauty & peace of Bora Bora. I went there several years ago – my most inspirational & relaxing vacation ever! Thanks for the memories!

Curious to know where is your favorite place to stay in NYC? I have mine, just wondering what is yours.

I know your question was posed to Slim…but…The Greenwich Hotel is FAB :-)
After a long day shopping and or fashion showing, there is a pool and spa to luxuriate in!

    Hi!
Thanks so much for stopping by the Back Porch.

These photos are wonderful. Even though the sun is shining here, in NE Missouri, it is 12 degrees this afternoon! I definitely loved seeing your photos!

The photoscape program is very user friendly. I tried photoshop and was completely lost! I think you will like photoscape and it’s a free download.

Great photos..isn’t Bora Bora beautiful! We stayed at the St. Regis on our last visit…these photos look just like where we stayed but saying that don’t all bungalow’s look the same these days? Exceptional vistas from your location. Prior to the St Regis we stayed at Hotel Bora Bora and that goes back a while because there were only about 5 hotels on Bora Bora at the time. Either way, you can’t beat it…heaven!
Thanks for leaving a post on my blog…Jeanne :)

    PS..wipers with heating pads…interesting concept!

I could swear Jeanne that when we stayed there it was a St. Regis hotel too, but when I looked it up on the internet it appears it has become a Hilton?

How can it be possible that Bora Bora has white sand and Tahiti has black sand? The black sand (charcoal really) was a shocker to me. In Bora Bora my fiance was down for the count with food poisoning from some sketchy mushrooms.

Those pictures are like a dream. I just can’t believe how blue it is. I need that blue. Does anyone know if there is a place like Bora, Bora in the Caribbean? We’ve been looking for a short getaway to a “blue lagoon” and we are having the hardest time figuring out where to go. We live in Boston, so the Caribbean would be the shortest travel wise.

The water in the Bahamas is just as blue and just a hop skip and a jump from you. I actually captured it from 30,000 feet in the air and couldnt believe it. As a Californian I dont know why you want to get away from that magical snow but give Nassau a try.
